About Me

My name is Adele Louise Pennington. I am 20 years old and I live in Manchester, UK.

I have loved the Moomins since I was very young and it was shown on TV. When I was 13, I was researching all the shows I used to watch and remembered the Moomins. It upset me that there wasn’t much information on the internet about them, which made me more intrigued and I really went out of my way to find the episodes to watch. This then grew to the point where I’d buy little things off eBay, but there were hardly any items online to buy in the UK. Little did I know what lurked across the border in Finland…

When I left high school at 16, I started college and got a job at McDonalds, which I really hated but it paid for me to go to Finland for the first time in 2011. I fell in love even more with Moomins and I realised it had become a way of life for me.

In June 2011, I decided to make a Tumblr blog. A lot of my friends had blogs on there but I didn’t want a personal one like everyone else’s, because I knew all I would post about were Moomins. I saw some other Moomin blogs and saw how successful they were, so I took the plunge and started uploading pictures of things I’d bought. My followers grew rapidly and I realised how much people appreciated what I was doing, which is why I made this website. I have a huge following on Twitter and every day I meet new people who love Moomins. I go out of my way to search for new fans and I let people know the news of products and events. Twitter is my most-used form of social media and I try to reply to everyone that tweets me.

    Hi Adele,

I hope you don’t mind me contacting you. My name is Kristina and I’m a features writer for a company called Caters News, I write features for women’s magazines in the UK – you might have seen that I posted in the UK Gyaru blog.

After clicking on your profile though, I realise that you’re a big Moomin fan! You’re blog is fantastic and really professional. I was wondering how you might feel about talking to me about your love for moomins for a magazine feature? It might be quite fun, and a great way to publicise your blog!

Please do let me know if you’d be interested. I can be reached on 0121 616 1100.

    Thanks!

    Kristina x

    Hi!
I accidentally found your website while surfing on the internet and I must say that I’m happy to find out that people there in U.K. love Moomin as much as we do! I live in Finland so I grew up watching Moomin and now my 2-year-old is so grazy about them. Some things last for generations!
