A Message to my Readers and GIVEAWAY!

“Maybe my passion is nothing special, but at least it’s mine.” – Tove Jansson, Travelling Light

This quote sums up my entire life. I’ve never had doubts about being so enthusiastic when it comes to the Moomins. Not even when people comment things like ‘aren’t they for children?’ or ‘why did you pay so much money for that?’, it actually makes me sad that they can’t understand what it’s like to have true passion for something. It seems my love for them is really making an impact on other people too. Already I’ve been featured in a UK magazine and BuzzFeed have also featured me in their page on ‘50 Lessons That Moomins Can Teach You About Life‘ with a picture taken from my blog (#5) and an actual picture of me and some of my collection (#44). Also, the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat released their special Teema issue which is all about Tove Jansson – and I’m mentioned in it!

I started off just posting pictures on Tumblr, making a few gifs from the 90s anime series and then uploading pictures of my (somewhat smaller) collection. Starting my blog is the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve met so many likeminded people through this and I was even invited to the Moomin HQ in Helsinki, which is probably the most significant aspect of my entire life.

I couldn’t do it without the support of my readers, so as a thank you I am hosting a giveaway where you can win a copy of the new 2013 edition of Sculptor’s Daughter. Whether you’re already a fan of Tove’s adult novels or just enjoy the Moomins, this is a great book to introduce you to her adult fiction. Guaranteed if you like the Moomins, you will love this! You definitely get the same feeling whilst reading it as you do from the Moomin novels, and it’s actually the closest thing Tove has released where she has openly told us that it’s her autobiography.

This edition of Sculptor’s Daughter was released on November 7th 2013 and is in English. The giveaway ends at midnight of November 27th. It is open internationally :)

I’ve always been a huge fan of the Moomins, so much so that all 16 of my pet chinchillas are named after Moomin characters. I’m always so happy when people recognise where their names originate from :D

    Hi, Adele!

    I’m Sammy from South Korea.
For many years, I had big passion of learning about Finland and people there, but I didn’t know much about Moomin. However, since watching a BBC documentary about Tove Jansson’s life and work a few months ago, my passion has stretched to her and Moomin stories. Glad that I found your blog and share the love of this heartwarming, philosophical yet pure stories!
This give-away event excites me very much. After hearing about a release of Sculptor’s Daughter, I even ordered Kindle, because the book is not for sale here in Korea. If I get the chance, I’ll cherish every sentence of the book to my heart.

Moomin are my childhood!! I use to watch them in Finnish! They were my favourite program! My aunt in Finland would record them on tapes for me and send them over so I could watch!! They are so amazing!

My kids grew up watching the japanese Moomin show and we all love everything Moomin! Especially feel a kindred spirit with Moomin Mama :)

  19. Emily says:

I love the Moomins and cannot wait to read Tove’s other works. I’m very curious as reading her books aimed for children have always seemed to have so many levels, not just for kids.

  20. Linda Davis Siess says:

Oooh, I’d love to win because I’m leading a children’s Moomin book club – we’re on our third of the nine (counting The Great Flood) books. I read them to my own kids when they were small; I loved the Moomins then and love them even more now! :-)

  21. I have loved the Moomins since I read Moominsummer Madness in the 1st grade and was enchanted with the way the family treated each other, especially Sufkin and Moomin Mama. I would love to win because I always wanted to read this book but have never seen one, only the cover picture. What a treasure it would be and I would cherish it forever.

  22. anni says:

You know how much I love the Moomins ;)
